How to add your business to Google Maps in Kabul.
You add a business to Google Maps by creating a free Google Business Profile, entering the name, category and address or service area, then completing verification. That profile is what appears on the map and beside the search results, so the details have to be correct and kept up to date. These are the real steps, including the parts that usually go wrong for a shop in Kabul.
Start with a Google account you actually control
Create a Google account or use one you can always get into, ideally a business email rather than an old personal account tied to a number you no longer use. Turn on two-step verification and keep the main phone number current, because verification and account recovery both depend on it. If someone else will help manage the profile, give them a role instead of handing over the password. Losing the login is the most common reason a listing becomes impossible to correct.
Create the profile and choose the right category
Go to Google Business Profile, add the business and write the name exactly as it appears on your signboard, without adding extra keywords to it. Pick the most specific primary category that fits, such as the type of shop or service, and add a few secondary ones only where they are genuinely true. Then choose between a street address customers visit and a service area you travel to, and place the map pin precisely on your door.
Complete verification, however Google asks for it
Google decides which verification method to offer, and the options have changed over time, so check the current rules shown in your profile before you plan around them. It may ask for a code by phone, a short video, documents, or a postcard, and some methods are much slower than others. Have your business documents, signboard and phone ready so a small mismatch does not cause a rejection. Do not use a fake address or someone else's shop to speed this up.
Fill the profile the way a customer would read it
Add the phone number with the country code, the real opening hours including Friday, a short description in Dari and English, and a handful of clear photos of the front, the inside and the work itself. List the services or products you actually offer and set attributes that are true, such as whether there is parking or delivery. People decide from these details whether to call, so vague or copied text costs you enquiries.
Keep it alive after the listing is approved
Update the hours before Eid and other holidays, otherwise people arrive at a closed door and stop trusting the listing. Answer messages and reviews, add a new photo now and then, and connect the profile to your web site or a WhatsApp link so the next step is one tap. Check the information every few months and fix anything Google or customers report as wrong.
What you get
- Creating or claiming your Google Business Profile
- Writing the name, category, hours and description
- Preparing photos and the correct phone number
- Walking through verification and checking the result
Do I need a web site to appear on Google Maps?
No — a Google Business Profile can appear on the map and in local search without any web site, and that is enough for people to call or get directions. A small site or webiste becomes useful when you want to show a menu, a catalogue or details you control, and it gives the profile somewhere to send people. Many Kabul businesses start with the profile and a WhatsApp number, then add a site later.
My shop is already listed but the details are wrong. What now?
Search for the business on Google Maps, open the listing and look for the option to claim it as the owner. Google asks you to prove you are connected to the business, and the exact proof it accepts changes, so check the current rules on the screen. Once claimed, you can correct the name, category, hours and phone number instead of creating a second listing.
How long does Google Maps verification take?
It depends on the method Google offers for your account, and those options change, so check what your profile shows before you plan around it. A phone or video check can finish quickly, while a postcard can take much longer, and nobody can promise a date. We prepare the name, address and documents first so the request is not rejected over a small mismatch.
Can I add a business without a street address?
Yes. If you go to customers instead of serving them at a fixed shop, you can set a service area and hide the address; if you do have a shop, use the real address and put the pin in the right place, because a pin on the wrong street sends people to the wrong door. Do not borrow another business address; that is the kind of thing that gets a listing suspended.
Can Pamir Digital set this up for me?
Yes. We can create or claim the profile, write the description in Dari and English, prepare photos, go through verification with you and check the result afterwards, and you keep ownership of the account and the Google login. Send us a WhatsApp message and we reply within one working day.
