Website guide · Afghanistan

How to make a website in Afghanistan, step by step.

Making a web site in Afghanistan is mostly a set of small, ordinary decisions: what the site must do, what address it lives at, who builds it and where it is hosted. You do not need to code to start, but you do need clear text, real photos and a way for people to contact you. Below is the order that works, and where we can take over if you would rather not do it alone.

  1. Step 1: decide what the site must do

Write one sentence about the job: get phone calls, take orders on WhatsApp, show a menu, or explain a clinic's services. Then list the pages that serve that job, usually four or five. Choose the main language your customers read and note whether a second language is truly needed. This step costs nothing and prevents most of the confusion later.

  2. Step 2: get a name and a domain

Pick a short name people can say out loud and spell after hearing it once. Check that the domain is free at a registrar, and prefer one you can keep for years. Register it in your own name with your own email, not a friend's account, so you never lose it. A .com is familiar, while a .af address signals a local business; either can work.

  3. Step 3: choose how it gets built

You can use a website builder, hire a studio, or start with a template and improve it later. A builder is quick for one page but can be hard to move away from. A studio costs more but gives you clean text, a design made for your business and a proper handover. Be honest about your time: building it yourself is cheaper only if you will actually finish it.

  4. Step 4: prepare the content before design

Collect your logo, real photos of the place or work, your address, hours and phone number, and a short description of each service. Write the text in plain language a customer would use, then have someone who speaks the language read it. Content is what the designer arranges; without it, the project waits. Keep the photos compressed so the site opens on mobile data.

  5. Step 5: publish, test and keep it current

Set up hosting, connect the domain and put the site online. Then open it on a cheap Android phone over mobile data, not only on your own laptop, and test every button, form and phone link. Ask a few customers to try it and watch where they hesitate. After launch, update hours, prices and photos when they change; a site that stays accurate keeps working, and a stale one quietly loses trust.

What you get

  • Planning the pages and languages with you
  • Building and publishing the site for you
  • Domain and hosting set up in your name
  • A short walkthrough so you can update it
Do I need to know coding to make a webiste?

No. A builder or a studio can put a working site online without you writing code. What you do need is a clear idea of the job, the text and the photos. Coding matters later only if the site needs something custom, like a shop or a booking system.

How long does it take to get a site online?

It depends on how fast the pages, text and photos are ready and how many revisions you want; we do not promise a number before seeing the job. The usual delay is waiting on content, not on the building itself. A short call gives a realistic picture.

What does a domain and hosting cost each year?

Both are yearly costs that depend on the registrar and the hosting company, and they change, so check the current amount where you buy them. They are separate from the build. We tell you the current figures before you commit and set both up in your name.

Can the site be in Dari and Pashto as well as English?

Yes, and we write and lay out each language separately rather than mixing scripts on one page. Each version needs its own correct text, which is real work, so plan the languages before the build starts. Adding a language later is possible but usually costs more than deciding early.

What can Pamir Digital do for me in this process?

We can plan the pages, write and arrange the text, build and publish the site, set up your domain and hosting, and show you how to update it. You can also do the steps yourself and ask us only for the parts you are stuck on. Message us on WhatsApp and we reply within one working day.
