Trade-route identity · Jalalabad

Logo design Jalalabad: a mark that survives the journey.

Much of what a business here sells leaves the shop before a customer sees it, packed in a carton and carried along the eastern road. The mark therefore has to print well on plain packaging and stay readable after handling. We design for that trip, not only for the shop wall.

  1. Printed on corrugated cartons

Carton board takes ink unevenly, so fine lines and pale shades disappear. We build a version with heavier strokes and strong contrast that still looks deliberate rather than clumsy.

  2. Readable in heat and dust

Signs on this road face sun and dust, and a mark with thin gaps fills in over time. The shapes are kept open and the colours chosen to stay distinct when the surface is not clean.

  3. Two languages for two sides of the trip

Dari serves the customer at home and Latin serves the buyer or office at the other end. Both versions are prepared from the start so a label does not have to be redesigned later.

Can you adapt a mark for a label rather than a sign?

A label gets its own layout, with the size and spacing set for the space it will occupy. It is not simply the sign artwork shrunk down.

What if my goods are packed by someone else?

We can prepare a short sheet showing where the mark goes and how large it should be. That way a packer who has never met you still applies it correctly.
