Guide · Website vs social

Do I need a website, or is an Instagram or Facebook page enough?

For many businesses in Afghanistan, a Facebook or Instagram page is enough at the start, and saying otherwise would be dishonest. A page is where people notice you; a website is where the details stay put and where someone who searches “web site” for your business name can find you. The right moment to add one is when repeated questions and lost messages start costing you orders, not before.

  1. What a social page does better than a website

Instagram and Facebook are built for reach: a new post can be seen by people who never searched for you, and comments and shares spread it further. Posting is quick, and customers already have the app open. For a home kitchen, a tailor or a small shop testing an idea, a page costs little and tells you whether anyone wants the product at all.

  2. What a social page cannot do well

A page is a stream, not a reference. Your menu, prices, delivery areas, hours and location scroll out of sight within days and depend on the visitor having an account and being logged in. Search engines index pages poorly, links inside the app open badly, and if the account is restricted or hacked, everything you posted is behind someone else's decision.

  3. The questions that tell you it is time for a site

If you answer the same five questions in direct messages every day, if customers ask whether you deliver to their city, or if you have more than one branch or service, a site starts to pay for itself in saved time. The same applies when you deal with offices, clinics or schools that expect an address and a proper email. It is a practical decision about repeated work, not a status symbol.

  4. How the two work together

Keep posting on Instagram or Facebook, and put the site link in the bio and in every caption where it fits. The site holds the stable parts, and the profile holds the fresh parts. When a customer messages from a post, the reply can point to one page instead of retyping the same explanation, and that page ends with a WhatsApp button that already says what they want.

  5. What it costs in effort, honestly

A site needs a domain, hosting and someone to keep it current, which is real work even when it is small. It should be light enough for a normal phone and written in the language your customers read. We do not promise rankings or a rush of new customers from a website; we build the page so that people who already heard about you can act without confusion.

What you get

  • A short site that holds prices, hours and delivery details
  • Links from your Instagram and Facebook profile to the site
  • A WhatsApp button that opens with the right message
  • A simple way for you to update the text yourself
Can I just put my prices in the Instagram bio and skip a web site?

A bio line is too short for a menu, delivery areas and hours, and it cannot be found on Google as its own page. It works for a one-line offer, but customers will still ask the rest in direct messages.

Will a website bring followers or new customers by itself?

No, and we will not say it will. A site holds the details and catches people who already search your name. Attention still comes from your posts, word of mouth and the work itself.

What if I cannot keep updating it? That is my worry with a webiste.

That worry is fair, so we build a small site with a few pages and a simple editor for hours, prices and notices. If you would rather not touch it, we can agree on a monthly check instead of pretending it will maintain itself.

Do I need a domain name, or can I just use a free address?

You can start on a free address, but your own domain looks more serious on cards, invoices and Google, and it belongs to you. It is a small yearly cost, and we explain the choice before anything is bought.

At what point should I ask Pamir Digital about this?

When repeated questions or missed messages are costing you time, or when you need to look proper to offices and larger customers. Send a WhatsApp message with a line about the business; we reply within one working day and give a fixed quote after a short call.
